Subject: Help With 5V Input

Trying to get an input to work from a Teknic Servo motor. I am already completely using JP5 and JP7 with the 5V tolerant inputs. I am stuck running it into JP4 or JP6 which say they are only good for 3.3V.

Would I be okay with just adding a series resistor or something? Here is the diagram from the servo motor. Hope there is an easy solution.

I Googled and found a manual with an Appendix D with specifications for HLFB. It will only drive a max of 9ma so it can't pull up the IO on JP4 or JP6 with 150ohm pull down resistors.

The HLFB should basically operate like a switch so it should also switch 3.3V. So you might select one of the two IO with no pull down resistors and add a 1K pull up resistors to 3.3V.  Then connect the HLFB to switch the pin to GND
